Driving school in Oslo

The total cost of a class B driving licence depends on how many driving lessons you need. At Elevens at Grefsen a driving lesson costs NOK 925 (45 min) or NOK 1,250 (60 min). Our complete package with 12 driving lessons and all mandatory courses costs NOK 27,950. Most students spend between NOK 25,000 and 40,000 in total, including fees to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the theory and practical tests.

Most students need between 15 and 25 driving lessons with a driving school, in addition to practice driving with a supervising driver. At Elevens at Grefsen you get a personal assessment after your first lessons. We recommend regular private practice between lessons for faster progression and lower total cost.

Most students complete their driver training in 3 to 6 months with regular practice. The timeline depends on how often you take lessons and practise. With two driving lessons per week and regular practice you can be ready for your driving test in about three months.

The basic traffic course (trafikalt grunnkurs) is mandatory for everyone getting their driving licence for the first time who is under 25. The course lasts 17 hours over at least five sessions and includes traffic theory (10 hours), first aid (4 hours) and night driving (3 hours). You can start practice driving the year you turn 16 after completing the course. If you are over 25 you only need first aid and night driving.

The slippery surface course (glattkjøring) is mandatory for all class B driving licence holders. The course lasts four school hours (4 x 45 min) at a NAF practice track. You practise emergency braking, evasive manoeuvres and driving on slippery surfaces. The price is NOK 4,800 for the course fee plus NOK 1,550 for track rental.

Night driving (trafikant i mørket) costs NOK 1,995 and lasts three hours. The course is mandatory and runs from October to March when it is dark enough. You learn about light and visibility, correct use of headlights, and risk awareness when driving in the dark. We drive from Grefsen through Nydalen, Kjelsås and towards Maridalsveien.

Yes, we offer driving lessons with both automatic and manual transmission. If you choose automatic your licence will only be valid for automatic cars. If you choose manual you can drive both. Our instructors help you choose what suits you best.

The trailer licence allows you to drive with a trailer. We offer two variants: B96 (total weight up to 4,250 kg, no driving test) and BE (no weight limit, with a driving test at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration). B96 is suitable for lighter trailers such as bike trailers and small boat trailers. BE is needed for heavy caravans or large boat trailers. Both include step assessments, a load securing course and a road safety course.

We are located at Grefsenveien 107 at Grefsen, close to Storo and Nydalen. It is easy to get here by metro (Storo station), bus and tram. Parking is also available. Driving lessons start either from our office or we pick you up wherever is convenient, for example at school, work or home in the Oslo area.

Yes, we offer driving lessons during the day and evening. Evening lessons (after 4 PM) have a surcharge of NOK 250. Many of our students combine lessons with work or studies. You can easily book a time in our online calendar.

The first driving lesson is a double session of 90 minutes at a campaign price of NOK 495 (regular price NOK 1,740). No prior experience is needed. We start calmly in residential areas at Grefsen and gradually build up to more traffic towards Løren and Torshov. You learn basic car control such as starting, stopping, steering and parking.

Yes, you can change instructor at any time at no extra cost. Good chemistry between student and instructor is important for learning. Just let us know and we will find an instructor who is a better fit for you.
