17 course hours, at least 5 sessions.
You can take the course the year you turn 15. Practice driving can start from age 16 when requirements are met.
The course is mandatory. If you miss a session, it must be made up before you receive your certificate.
You do not need your own car. We provide a training car with dual controls.
Pay with Vipps or card. Packages are paid before the course starts.
Driving in the dark is taken in season and booked separately. It is not taken at the same time as the course.
You can take the basic traffic course from the year you turn 15. Once you have turned 16 and completed the course, you can start practice driving with an approved accompanying driver. At Elevens Trafikkskole we offer the course regularly – check our calendar for available dates.
Yes, the basic traffic course is mandatory for everyone under 25 taking a driving licence for the first time. The course provides a fundamental understanding of traffic rules, risk assessment, first aid and driving in the dark – everything you need before you can start practice driving.
The basic traffic course consists of 17 course hours spread over at least five sessions. The course covers traffic rules and interaction (10 hours), first aid (4 hours) and driving in the dark (3 hours). At Elevens we offer complete packages that include all parts.
You learn traffic rules, interaction with other road users, risk awareness and how to make safe choices in traffic. In addition, you get practical first aid training (alerting, securing and simple measures) and driving in the dark (use of lights, risk in poor visibility). After the course you are well prepared to start practice driving.
Since the basic traffic course is mandatory, you must make up all hours you have missed before you can receive your course certificate. Contact us if you need to miss a session and we will help you find a solution.
No, you do not need your own car. Driving in the dark is completed using our training cars which have dual controls – this is required by law for driving schools so the instructor can intervene if needed. You get practical experience with use of lights, risk assessment and typical situations in the dark.
You can start practice driving from the age of 16, provided you have completed the basic traffic course and your certificate has been registered. Your accompanying driver must be at least 25, have held a driving licence continuously for at least 5 years, and be sober. At Elevens we are happy to give you tips for effective practice driving.
If you will be practice driving during the winter months (October to March), driving in the dark must be completed first. If you take the basic traffic course in summer, driving in the dark can be taken the following winter season. We offer it as part of the course package or as a separate course.
The price for the basic traffic course depends on whether you choose the complete package (with driving in the dark) or without. Check our calendar for current prices and available dates. We offer competitive prices and good support.
Start slowly in safe surroundings – car parks, quiet residential areas or calm roads. Your accompanying driver must meet the requirements (25 years old, 5 years continuous driving licence). At Elevens we give you tips and advice for effective practice, and we can make a plan together with you.
The number of driving lessons varies from person to person. The average is 15 to 25 lessons with a driving school, in addition to practice driving with an accompanying driver. With regular practice at home you can often reduce the number of lessons with us. We adapt the programme to your level and progress.
If you are over 25, you are normally exempt from the theory part of the basic traffic course, but you must still complete first aid and driving in the dark. Contact us to find out what applies to your situation – we are happy to help.
