With the complete package at Grefsen, you get a structured path to your driving licence. The mandatory package includes driving lessons (7 or 12 sessions of 45 min each), stage assessments at stages 2 and 3, a safety course on the training track, and all required courses (4.1.1-4.1.4). You practise in Oslo traffic - Ring 3, Trondheimsveien, roundabouts at Sinsen - and gain experience with the challenges that often come up during the practical driving test.
It varies, but the national average is 15-25 lessons in total. With our packages of 7 or 12 lessons, you get a solid foundation, and many students manage with fewer lessons if they practise well at home. In Oslo traffic, it is especially important to become comfortable with traffic lights, lane changes, and heavy traffic - things you learn with us at Grefsen.
In Oslo, more and more people are choosing automatic - it makes driving easier in heavy city traffic on Ring 3, Trondheimsveien, and the city centre streets. With automatic, you get code 78 on your licence (automatic cars only). Manual gives you the freedom to drive any car. Both cost the same with us, and the instructors at Grefsen will help you choose based on your needs.
Yes, you can add individual lessons at any time. Many students start with the 7-lesson package and buy more as needed. At Grefsen, it is easy to book extra time - whether you need more practice with roundabouts, reversing, or just general practice before the driving test.
All packages include courses 4.1.1-4.1.4: driving risk awareness, country road driving (we often drive towards Lillehammer or Drammen), varied traffic environments in the Oslo area, and reflection. You do not need to think about this separately - everything is included and we guide you through the entire training process from start to the driving test.
The mandatory package with 7 driving lessons starts from approx. 23 575 kr, the package with 12 lessons from approx. 27 950 kr. In addition, there is a fee for the driving test at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Check our prices page for current prices, or call us at Grefsen for a tailored offer based on your situation.
You can start practice driving when you are 16 years old and have completed the basic traffic course (mandatory for those under 25). We have available times at Grefsen most days - early morning, afternoon, and evening. Check our calendar or get in touch and we will find times that suit your schedule.
Most people complete the process in 3-6 months with steady progression. If you can practise a lot, it can go faster. At Grefsen, we create an individual plan with you - some prefer intensive weeks, others spread lessons over a longer period. Oslo traffic gives you varied experience that prepares you well for the driving test.
No, you do not need your own car - we provide a training car with dual controls for all lessons and the driving test. Driving schools are required to have dual controls so the instructor can intervene if needed. Practice between lessons is valuable: practise privately with parents or others over 25 with at least 5 years of driving experience - you do not need dual controls for that, but the car must display an L sign. In the Oslo area, you can practise everything from quiet residential streets at Nordberg to busy main roads towards the city centre.
