Driving in the dark is a mandatory course for a category B driving licence. In Asker, we have ideal conditions for the course: the roads from Nesbru via Borgen to Slemmestad and towards Lier give you experience with everything from lit town centres to country roads without street lights. You learn to assess risk, use your lights correctly and drive safely when visibility is limited.
Yes, the night driving course must be completed before the practical driving test. The course lasts 3 hours and gives you hands-on experience with night driving. In the Asker area, this is especially useful as many local roads have poor lighting, and you learn to handle situations like meeting oncoming traffic on narrow roads without edge markings.
We start from Drammensveien 880 at Borgen and drive in the surrounding area. The route includes Slemmestadveien and stretches towards Heggedal, areas with varying levels of lighting. You experience the transition from well-lit main roads to dark side roads, which is typical for driving in the Asker district.
If you are under 25, the basic traffic course is required before practice driving. The night driving course can be included in the basic traffic course package or taken separately. At our Borgen branch, we offer both options and help you find the best combination for your situation and budget.
Night driving courses are held from October to March. In Asker, it gets dark a little earlier than in central Oslo, so we can start courses as early as 3-4 PM in autumn. We run courses several times a week at Borgen. Check the calendar for available dates.
The course costs 1 995 kr for 3 hours. You get a training car, instructor and a demonstration of reflector effectiveness and lighting. If you choose a basic traffic course package, the night driving course is included at a better total price. Call us at Borgen to hear about package deals.
No, we provide a training car and all equipment at the Borgen branch. You show up at Drammensveien 880 and we take care of the rest. The course is a great opportunity to combine with a driving lesson the same evening if you live in Asker, Baerum, Lier or the Vollen area.
Use our calendar to find an available date and sign up directly. Payment is made at the time of booking. You will receive a confirmation email with the details. We are located at Borgen, easy to reach by car (free parking) or by train to Asker station.
